Artist statement/Biography:

I still remember working on a mosaic tabletop project back in Junior High School many years ago. I loved watching my design come together and that feeling of accomplishment. That table followed me to my first apartment, our first house and even into my first classroom. When I retired from teaching 35 years later I left that sturdy table, no worse for wear, for the next person and they were pleased to have it!

Upon my retirement I decided I wanted to return to my “mosaic roots” and so I took some classes to re-learn the techniques. Since then I have been happily creating all kinds of mosaic items. I love being able to use different types of tile, glass, vintage china, and other materials to create one-of-a-kind objects of art. I especially find grouting to be very relaxing and exciting as I see the final product come to the surface.

When I am not in my mosaic studio, I keep busy as an Educator at Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton and at Kopernik Observatory and Science Center in Vestal.

I am pleased to be a member of Gallery 41 and look forward to sharing my work.
